The Green is the farm of Gary and Clare Wright in County Down, Northern Ireland. We specialise in “slow food” with ethical farming and animal welfare given the highest priority.

It is becoming clear that modern intensive factory farming methods are unsustainable, with detrimental effects on animals and the environment. These methods result in cheap, poor quality food (see links).

We believe there is increasing public interest in the provenance of food with a growing public concern for the welfare of domestic farm animals.

The Green specialises in indigenous traditional breeds of pigs, cattle and sheep. Over hundreds of years these animals have become adapted to our environment and as a result require minimal interference. However, because they are slower to mature they are not suited to modern factory farming methods and are becoming endangered.
